Getting started

Who can join RishteDesk?

Anyone aged 18 or over who is looking for marriage — for themselves or, with their agreement, for a son, daughter, brother or sister. RishteDesk is for Pakistani families of every faith, in Pakistan and overseas.

It is not a dating site: there is no swiping, no public feed, and a conversation only opens when both sides have accepted an interest.

How do I create a profile?

Sign up with your email address, or continue with Google or Facebook. Then fill in your profile step by step — basics, family, education and work, and what you are looking for — and add photos if you wish.

When you submit it, a person on our team reviews it before it goes live. You will get an email as soon as it is published.

Can a parent or sibling create the profile?

Yes. A family member can help manage a profile, and the member can invite up to five family members with exactly the permissions they choose — from viewing the profile to responding to proposals. Everyone involved is visible; nothing happens behind the member's back.

Why do I need to verify my email and mobile number?

Verification keeps fake and duplicate accounts out. Your email is used for sign-in codes and important messages, and your mobile number confirms you are a real person. Neither is ever shown to another member.

Which languages does RishteDesk support?

The site works in 11 languages, including English and Urdu. Use the language menu at the top of any page. The Ask us assistant replies in whichever language you write in.

Search and matches

How are my matches chosen?

Matches are worked out from both people's preferences and non-negotiables — age, location, religion, education, family values and more — and refreshed regularly. Each match shows why it was suggested and where the two of you differ, so you can decide quickly and fairly.

What are non-negotiables?

They are the few things that truly matter to you, such as an age range, not smoking, or wanting someone who will relocate. You set them on the Non-negotiables page, and matches that go against them are held back or clearly marked.

What is travel mode?

If you are visiting another city or country — for example coming home to Pakistan from abroad — travel mode lets you appear to, and search, members in that place for a set period. It switches off by itself when the dates end.

Can I undo a "Not for me"?

Yes. Profiles you passed on are listed so you can bring one back if you change your mind.

What are Elite Picks?

Elite members get a short list every Monday of their five strongest matches, chosen by our matching engine. Each pick shows the reasons it was chosen.

Interests and messages

What is an interest, and what is a super interest?

An interest is how you tell someone you would like to talk. They can accept or decline, and a conversation opens only when they accept. A super interest is highlighted so it stands out; how many you can send depends on your plan.

When can we start messaging?

As soon as an interest is accepted by both sides, a private conversation opens. Replying is always free. During the Founding Member launch every member can also start conversations; after it, starting new conversations depends on your plan.

Why was part of my message removed?

Phone numbers, email addresses and social media handles are removed from messages automatically, for everyone's safety. Keep your conversation on RishteDesk until you and your families are ready to meet.

Who can read my messages?

Only the people in the conversation. If a wali or family member has been invited openly, everyone in the chat can see that they are present. Our moderators look at a message only when it is reported or automatically flagged for safety.

Voice and video calls

How do voice and video calls work?

Once a conversation is open, press the voice or video call button in the chat. The call runs inside RishteDesk, so neither of you learns the other's phone number, and calls are not recorded. Allow your browser or the app to use your microphone and camera when asked.

Do calls cost anything?

Receiving a call is always free. During the Founding Member launch every member can also start voice and video calls. After it, starting calls depends on your plan: Plus includes voice minutes, Premium adds video minutes, and Elite is unlimited.

My call does not connect. What can I do?

Check that your internet connection is stable and that you allowed microphone and camera access. Use an up-to-date browser such as Chrome, refresh the page and try again. If it still fails, send us a message from the Contact page and tell us which devices you used.

Membership and payment

Is a free profile really free?

Yes. A free profile is fully visible to other members, you can be approached, and you can reply to anyone — a paid membership is never needed to answer someone.

Right now RishteDesk is in its Founding Member launch: every Premium feature is free for every member until 2,000 active profiles are live. After that, paid plans raise your daily interests, let you start conversations and calls yourself, and open details some members reserve for premium viewers. Prices are on the Membership page.

How do you take payment?

During the Founding Member launch no payment is taken at all. Once payments open, you pay by bank transfer, JazzCash or Easypaisa, upload the receipt, and a person on our team confirms it — your membership is activated within 2 working days.

We do not store card details and nothing is ever charged automatically. When a membership ends it simply stops: your profile, your photos and your conversations all stay.

What is the Founding Member launch?

RishteDesk is new, so while it grows every Premium feature is free for every member, and no payment is taken. It ends once 2,000 active profiles are live, and members get 14 days' notice by email first. Everyone who joined during the launch keeps Premium free for three more months, then gets 40% off their first paid plan.

Does my membership renew automatically?

No. Nothing is ever charged automatically. When a paid membership ends, it simply stops, and you can choose whether to buy another one.

Can I get a refund?

Once a membership is active it is not refundable, with a few clear exceptions: a mistaken or duplicate payment; a membership that was not activated within 2 working days; cancelling before we activate it; or RishteDesk closing permanently while your membership is running, in which case unused days are refunded.

Write to billing@rishtedesk.com with your payment reference. The full rules are in our Refund policy.

Privacy and photos

Will my profile show up on Google?

No. Member profiles are never indexed by any search engine, and there is no setting that can turn that on.

A matrimonial profile appearing in public search results is a harm, not a growth channel. Your profile is visible inside RishteDesk, to the audience you choose, and nowhere else.

Who can see my phone number?

Nobody. Your phone number and email address are never shown to another member at any membership level, and they are stored encrypted.

Phone numbers, email addresses and social handles are also removed from messages automatically. Voice and video calls happen inside the platform, so you can speak to someone without either of you learning the other's number.

Can I keep my photos private?

Yes. You can mark photos private, and then they are released only to someone whose request you have approved — and you can withdraw that access later, which takes effect immediately.

Every photo is watermarked, served through short-lived links tied to one viewer, and checked against other accounts so that a photograph of yours appearing on someone else's profile is flagged to our moderators.

Can I delete my account and my data?

Yes, from your security settings. Your profile disappears from the platform immediately and every device is signed out.

There is a recovery window during which signing in restores the account — after that your personal data is permanently deleted. You can also download everything we hold about you as a file from the Privacy Center at any time.

Verification

What does a verified badge actually mean?

It means a person on our team checked the evidence for that specific thing. There are eight separate levels: email, mobile, photo, identity, education, profession, family and video.

A badge is never set by hand and never appears without the check having happened. Some badges expire and need renewing, and when one lapses it stops showing.

Do you keep a copy of my CNIC?

No. We do not store your CNIC, NICOP or passport number at all — not even encrypted.

For identity verification we keep a one-way fingerprint, which lets us tell if the same document is used on two accounts but cannot be turned back into a number, plus the reviewer's decision. The document images themselves are deleted once the review is finished.

How do I get verified?

Open the Verification Center from your account. Choose the check you want — for example email, mobile, a live selfie matched to your profile photo, or identity — and follow the steps. A person reviews the evidence, and the badge appears only once the check has passed.

Family and wali

Can my parents or wali take part?

Yes, and you decide exactly how. You can invite up to five people and grant each of them any combination of seven permissions — from simply seeing your profile through to responding to proposals on your behalf or sitting in a conversation as your wali.

You can change or withdraw any permission at any time, and a withdrawal applies to conversations that are already open. When a wali is present, the other person is told — nobody reads a conversation invisibly.

What can a family member do on my behalf?

Only what you allow. When you invite a parent, sibling or guardian you choose their permissions one by one — for example viewing your profile, seeing your matches, responding to interests, or joining conversations as your wali. You can change or remove any permission at any time.

Will the other person know my wali is in the conversation?

Yes, always. When a wali or chaperone joins, everyone in the conversation can see who is present. Nobody can read a conversation invisibly, and a wali also receives a weekly summary of activity, without message text.

Safety

Someone asked me for money. What should I do?

Stop replying, and report the profile. A genuine match never asks for money, for any reason, in any amount.

A report goes to a person on our team, and the member you report is never told who reported them. If money has already been sent, report it to your bank and to the FIA Cybercrime wing as well — and do not send more money to try to recover it, which is a common second stage of the same fraud.

How do I report a profile or a message?

Press Report on the profile or on the message itself. Reports go to a person on our team, and the member you report is never told who reported them. For anything urgent or serious, also email safety@rishtedesk.com.

How can I stay safe when we decide to meet?

Keep talking on RishteDesk until you trust each other and your families are involved. Meet in a public place, tell someone where you are going, and never send money to anyone you met online. Our Safety tips page explains the warning signs.

Can I block someone?

Yes. Blocking someone ends the conversation, and they can no longer see your profile or contact you. They are not told that you blocked them.

The RishteDesk app

Is there a RishteDesk app?

An Android app is on its way. It uses the same account as the website, so your profile, matches, messages and calls are the same in both. Until it is published, the website works fully on any phone browser.

About RishteDesk

How do you use AI, and can I turn it off?

AI does four things here: it answers questions in the site assistant, it turns a sentence into search filters, it helps polish a profile you have written yourself, and it writes triage notes for our moderators on flagged messages.

It never decides anything about a member. It cannot suspend, ban, verify or clear anyone — a person makes every decision, and every decision is recorded.

You can turn off AI processing entirely in your Privacy Center, and you keep the whole product if you do.

Are the success stories on this site real?

Any story we publish as real is real: from a couple who met here, published with their recorded permission and in their own words. The platform will not let a real story be published without a consent record attached to it.

RishteDesk is new, so there are none yet. Until there are, the site shows a few illustrative journeys that explain how families use RishteDesk. Each one is clearly labelled as illustrative, uses stock photographs and names no one.

Is RishteDesk only for Muslims?

No. RishteDesk is for Pakistani families of every faith — Muslim, Christian, Hindu, Sikh, Parsi and others. You choose your religion on your profile, and can search within it or across faiths.

Who runs RishteDesk?

RishteDesk is a service operated by ARBSBUY (SMC-PRIVATE) LIMITED, a company incorporated in Pakistan under the Companies Act 2017 (CUIN 0310402). You can reach us at hello@rishtedesk.com.
